The Guinea pig was domesticated in the early 5,000 B.Cs in the Andean mountain area in South America.

The people who domesticated the guinea pig were the tribes of Andean Indians in Peru.

The Guinea pig was domesticated for a source of food and as a source of offering to the Incan gods.

The Guinea pig now is smaller and more calmer and has a ease of handling and a quit nature.
