For hundreds of thousands of years, humans lived as Hunter/Gathers, acquiring food by hunting wild game, and foraging off wild plants. They lived in relatively small tribes or clans and moved periodically to ensure a constant source of food.

After the last Ice Age, about 10,000 years ago, humans began to change their way of life. In different parts of the world, and at different times, humans discovered that plants and animals could be tamed, or Domesticated. This change is called the Neolithic Revolution, and is arguably the most important "event" in human history.

This change led to many others, including the beginning of cities and a specialized workforce. Out of some of these early farming communities grew the amazing Civilizations we will study later in the year.
